India's Ecosystems

See if you can guess the name of the ecosystem each riddle below describes.Then try to match the descriptions with the sketches alongside!

 Three-fourths of the Earth I wrap around,
Here turtles, whales and sharks abound.
Salty waters, waves that spray,
Where plankton, dolphins, fisher folk play.

Pond, marsh, lagoon, lake,

Various watery forms I take.
Algae, lilies with grass and reed,
Flamingoes, ducks and storks I feed.

  Shrubs, creepers, a variety of trees,
Teeming with mammals, birds and bees.
My floor is littered with thousands of leaves,
I provide for many human needs.

 Tides that are high and low,
Over here, ebb and flow;
Trees have roots above the ground,
The fiddler crab waits on a mound.
Fish and shrimp are here to breed,
Kingfishers and crocodiles have plenty to eat.

Scorching sun, shifting sands,
Prickly plants, camels, caravans.
Gerbil, fox, snake and hare,
This land with nomads they share!
_ _ _ _ _ _

Wide stretches of tall, green, grass;
Where blackbuck, chinkaras, wolves, pass.
Grasshoppers and crickets chirp with glee;
Shepherds with their flocks you see.
