Letter to the Indian Express
Dear Sir,
The members of the Pune Tree Authority should be allowed to go on its proposed junket to Japan using taxpayer money, under the strict condition that they will not come back to Pune. In their hopefully permanent absence, a new Pune Tree Authority could be constituted with environmentalists, botanists, agriculturists, town-planners and other professionals,
instead of unemployed politicians. This is perhaps our final chance of saving Pune's greenery. A one-way ticket fare to Japan is a small price to pay for getting rid of a useless and parasitic Pune Tree Authority.
Sincerely,
Samir Dhume
