Urban Greens campaign

Kalpavriksh initiated an effort to save Delhi’s green which is badly effect by construction drive all over the Delhi. To save Delhi green from massive on going construction for beautification and transportation Kalpavriksh played major role to form a group of NGOs to address issue effectively. Newly formed group recognized as Trees for Delhi. Under the banner of Trees for Delhi many activities have been done so far over all motives of all activities to make citizen aware about adverse ecological effect of current model of transportation and other development work. Moreover some how this campaign has been influencing concern government agencies, their officials, planning agencies, policy maker to insure to avoid environmental loss from any construction drive all around the city. Apart from campaign Kalpavriksh filed writ petition Delhi High Court to save trees from tiling in petition fallowing things we are seeking from court through prayer; 

  1. Issue an order thereby directing to stop all concreting, tiling and grill activities being done indiscriminately and arbitrarily by the respondents.
  1. Issue an order that the Union of India should consider  that the Guidelines of The Union Ministry of Urban Development and Poverty alleviation, be given legal recognition in the form of the Notification under Sub Section (1) of Section 3 of  the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.
  1. Pass any such order that the Hon’ble Court may deem fit and proper in the facts and circumstances of the case.

      Two hearing ahs been took place so for in last hearing on 18 bench of Chief Justice and justice Sanjeev Khanna have issued order to all respondent i.e. NDMC,DDA, PWD,MCD and Union Govt. to free all the Delhi trees from tiling  within six weeks. Bench seriousness about issue give hopes us to get some thing from this petition. Kalpavriksh long efforts have got momentum recently through valuable support from NGOs, Individuals, Press, Citizens and Various governmental agencies.
